Man, woman arrested for fatal Thanksgiving shooting of Bronx man

Two people have been arrested for the fatal shooting of a Bronx man on Thanksgiving, police said Tuesday.

Jermaine Johnson, 49, and Tamula Cheatam, 39, were arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for the Nov. 24 slaying of Michael Roberts, according to cops.

A man was pronounced dead at the Hospital after he was shot outside of 1705 Hoe Avenue in the Bronx on Thursday November 24, 2022.

Roberts, 33, had just left a barber shop near Crotona Park when Cheatam ran up and began attacking him, his grieving brother told the Daily News after his murder.

Roberts walked away, but she followed him and called out to Johnson for help.

The three argued at the corner of Hoe Ave. and E. 174th St. when Cheatam punched Roberts in the face.

Johnson pulled out a gun and shot Roberts in the face.

Medics rushed the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved.

Roberts lived just a few blocks from where he was shot. He had an 18-year-old daughter.

Johnson and Cheatam lived on the same block Roberts was killed on, police said.

Their arraignments were pending in Bronx Criminal Court late Tuesday night.
