Jackson Potrero Hill Park Gets a $40 Million Makeover

If the name of the San Francisco park “Jackson Park” is not familiar to you, you might think that this is a park at 17th and Arkansas Streets in Potrero Hill with two baseball diamonds, which is located directly opposite Thee Parkside bar and two blocks from Bottom Street. And the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department just announced a $40 million renovation of Jackson Park that they say will add “a new playground, athletic fields, community gardens for learning, and an outdoor ball court.”

“Jackson Park has been a valuable resource in the area since 1912, and we want it to continue to serve the community for generations to come,” said Phil Ginsburg, general manager of the SF Rec and Park Department. “This project revives everything we love about Jackson Park and makes it a more functional, accessible and beautiful part of city life.”

The centerpiece of this project is definitely the refurbishment of the bathrooms into a more luxurious “club house”. And that means they’re going to be moving this building “from the southeast corner of the park to the center of the block along Carolina Street, expanding the building an additional 4,700 square feet and renovating the space to include an updated and expanded kitchen, remodeled.” toilets and an improved stage.”
