“It’s a bit difficult” | Astros star Kyle Tucker discusses losing arbitration hearing

Despite the organization losing its arbitration hearing, outfielder Kyle Tucker is still looking to bring home another championship.

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — Houston Astros star outfielder Kyle Tucker remains open to a long-term deal with the team after losing an arbitration hearing earlier this month.

After earning just $764,200 last season, Tucker went to a February hearing asking for a $7.5 million salary. The Astros had $5 million for 2023 and they won.

The $2.5 million gap between Tucker and the Astros was the widest among the 33 players who exchanged offered salaries with their teams in January.

However, despite losing the hearing, Tucker remains committed to the organization.

“It’s a little tricky,” Tucker said. “Just because you’ve been here for a while and come here every day and put in the work… and try to make big things as a team and try to win championships.”

Tucker, 26, hit .257 with 30 homers, a career-best 107 RBIs, stole 25 bases and won the Glove Glove last year after batting .294 with 30 homers and 92 RBIs in 2021. season 2025.

“I’m not trying to guarantee anything, but we’ll see how it goes. I will be here no matter this year or the next two,” Tucker said. “Unless something changes, but right now I’m just trying to focus on the season, prepare and try to play it.”

Although he lost his arbitration hearings, this offseason has been eventful for the star outfielder. In December, Tucker announced on Instagram that he was now engaged to his now fiancée Samantha Scott.

The offer came immediately after the Astros’ World Series victory over Philadelphia in November.

Earlier in December, the World Series champion was also selected to the All-MLB Second Team along with RHP Ryan Pressley. 2B teammates José Altuve, DH Jordan Alvarez and LHP Framber Valdes were selected to the first team along with former teammate Justin Verlander.
