ISD event in Arlington, opening the Year of Kindness

Something good will happen at Arlington ISD on Tuesday and it is hoped that the effects of this will be felt throughout the year.

Along with the action “Kindness” in the area will be the start of the “Year of Kindness”.

According to an email sent to NBC5, “The free and open to the public (even those outside the county) event will feature a live performance by Corey Academy students who will showcase their KindMusic song – It’s Time to Be Kind.”

Students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Bilingualism. Corey wrote the lyrics, worked with the songwriter, and released “It’s Time to Be Kind” on Spotify.

It all started at Corey Academy during Kindness Week back in February 2022. The Parent Parent Association, along with parent Lindsey Wittenberg, brought Kind Mirror to campus. Students, faculty, and staff looked at themselves in the mirror to help create and boost positive morale and make the campus kinder.

This was followed by the video clip “It’s time to be kind.”

Since then, Wittenberg and the Austin-based nonprofit The Kindness Campaign have taught dozens of parents, teachers and other adults how to bring life-changing experiences to their schools.

A free event on Tuesday night will kick-start the Year of Kindness learning events starting in February, Month of Kindness. All are welcome, but registration is required.
