Husband arrested after shooting wife when weapon misfires in Katy neighborhood, sheriff’s office says

KATY, Texas – A man has been arrested after he reportedly shot his wife in a Katy neighborhood Saturday.

Officials with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting took place in the 3300 block of Pimlico Pine Lane around 3 p.m Oct. 1.

According to deputies, the suspect, 44-year-old Yu Heng Tao, told them that he misfired a gun, and shot his 27-year-old wife.

His wife suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Memorial Hermann Downtown for further treatment.

Despite Tao’s claims that the weapon misfired, he was arrested and remains in the Fort Bend County Jail.

He has been charged with Aggravated Assault-Family Violence, and his bond was set at $500,000.

“Despicable acts of domestic violence have no place in this county or anywhere else,” said Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan. “October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which reminds us that It’s time to end the silence and suffering—for the victims, the victims’ families, and our community.”
