HPD: man attacked uncle with a hammer and set fire to his house

Police said the man who attacked his uncle with a hammer and set the house on fire is now in police custody.

HOUSTON. A man was seriously injured when a family member attacked him with a hammer and set fire to his house. Houston Police Department.

It happened in a house on Knoxville Street near Scott Street in southeast Houston. Houston police said they received a call from a man who was attacked with a hammer in the house.

Family members told police that their uncle was hit on the head with a hammer. Police arrived at the scene and found the house on fire.

Houston firefighters managed to get the uncle out of the house, but police said he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

“Several members of the family ran out of the house and shouted that their uncle had been attacked. Before they could enter the house, the house caught fire,” police lieutenant Horelika said. “The officers were unable to enter.”

Police said the man who attacked his uncle with a hammer and set the house on fire is now in police custody.

Investigators are working to determine possible motives.
