Grand Champion car sold for record $375,000 at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
On Friday, the Grand Champion sold for a record $375,000, beating the previous record of $250,000 set last year.
Sage Burden, 14, of Crowell FFA featured the winner, who was sold to Reytec Construction by Sabra Smith, Cathy and Matt Norris and Lisa Blackwood.
“I never dreamed I would be here,” Bearden said.
A spare Grand Champion car exhibited by 14-year-old Zachary “Kai” Blount also broke the record, selling for $320,000 to Sheri and Rob Walker, Andrew and Scott Fish, Sherry and Connard Barker, and Mark Ward. Until Friday, the reserve Grand Champion’s record was $200,000, also set last year.
This is not the only record broken this year at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The record was also set at the School Art Auction. A painting by eighteen-year-old Mia Hackman titled “Our Latest Roundup” sold for $275,000, breaking the previous record of $265,000… which was also set by Hackman.
