Some frozen fruit sold in Southland markets are being recalled due to the hepatitis A outbreak.

Gresham, Oregon-based Scenic Fruit Company is recalling Simply Nature frozen organic strawberries sold by Costco, Aldi, KeHE, Vital Choice Seafood, PCC Community Markets, and frozen organic tropical blend sold by Trader Joe’s, according to the FDA. products and medicines.

The product being recalled at Trader Joe’s is called Organic Tropical Fruit Blend: Pineapple, Banana, Strawberry & Mango.

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease resulting from contact with the hepatitis A virus, including food. This can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months, according to the FDA. In rare cases, especially in consumers with pre-existing severe disease or immunosuppression, the infection may progress to liver failure.
