Fortune/PINC AI Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals

Health improvement and technology company Fortune and PINC AI have named the top 50 cardiovascular hospitals.

According to a company press release dated March 15, Premier analyzed statistics from 937 short-term, acute, non-federal hospitals across the country that treat a wide range of patients with cardiovascular disease. Hospitals were divided into community hospitals and teaching hospitals with and without CVD residency programs. They were assessed in terms of clinical outcomes, efficacy, and patient experience.

Those in the top 50 operated at lower cost and had better outcomes, had significantly higher inpatient survival rates, fewer patients with complications, lower readmission rates, and spent $5,076 less in total cost per patient. According to the analysis, if all hospitals operated at the top 50 level, there would be 7,600 fewer deaths from heart disease, 6,700 fewer patients with complications, and savings of more than $1 billion a year.
