Foghat to play Belly Up in Solana Beach

After celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2021, rock band Foghat will return to Belly Up at Solana Beach on February 7th.

In 2017, the band released the album Live at the Belly Up.

“It’s a really great sounding room, people are having a good time,” said drummer Roger Earle, one of Foghat’s founders.

Over the years, Foghat has won eight gold, platinum and double platinum records. The band maintained a strict touring schedule over the years.

But before that, Earl’s love for music began as a child, when his father played the piano and both parents sang a little. The radio was always on.

“I was really always thinking about music,” Earl said. “Before I had a drum kit, I pounded knives, forks and spoons on my mother’s finest china and lampshades.”

Earl first visited America in 1968 with another group before moving to Long Island, New York in the early 1970s.

“When I was growing up in London, we only listened to American blues bands and rock and roll,” he said. “When I was 12, my father took me to Jerry Lee Lewis. That was the start of my rock ‘n’ roll journey.”

Foghat plays several of his classics such as “Slow Ride” (known to older fans as a well known part of the rock and roll canon and to younger audiences thanks to the “Guitar Hero” video game series) and “Stone Blue”. ”

“Every year we add four or five new songs or new old songs to the set,” Earl said. “We usually play at least one or two new songs from any upcoming projects we’re working on. We release a new album every two to three years.”

Belly Up is Foghat’s first performance on the tour, which will take place in Las Vegas, Miami, New Jersey, the Midwest and New York from February to September.

“I’m one of the lucky few in this world who makes a living doing what I really enjoy,” Earl said. “The guys in the group are great. We are good friends, we go to shows together. Probably had too much to drink after the show, but that’s another story.”

Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm on February 7th. For more information and tickets, visit bellyup.com/shows or Foghat.com/tour. Belly Up is located at 143 S. Cedros Ave., Solana Beach.
