Five gang members plead guilty in murder of innocent Bronx teen Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman-Feliz

Five members of the Trinitarios gang responsible for the brutal Bronx slaying of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz pleaded guilty to manslaughter, the Bronx District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

Ronald Urena, Luis Cabrera Santos, Gabriel Ramirez Concepcion and Danilo Payamps Pacheco pleaded guilty to the charge in Bronx Supreme Court.

Jose Tavaerez pleaded guilty to manslaughter Nov. 16 in the same court, they added.

The viciousness of 2018 killing, in which Junior was dragged into the street and slashed to death, drew outrage in the city at the time.

“The defendants’ actions culminated in the brutal attack on Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark in a statement. “They along with seven other defendants have been held accountable in the killing of the 15-year-old boy which horrified the Bronx and beyond.”

Lesandro (Junior) Guzman-Feliz, 15 years old, was stabbed to death by five men with machetes on June 20, 2018, in the Bronx, outside the Cruz and Chiky Grocery store on the corner of E. 183rd St. and Bathgate Ave. in Belmont.

The five men were part of a group who rolled up to the Cruz and Chiky Grocery on E. 183rd St. near Bathgate Ave. in Belmont on June 20, 2018 in four cars, looking to kill members of another set of the Trinitarios called “Sunset,” officials said.

Mistaking Junior for a gang member, they chased him four blocks into the bodega and then dragged him out to the street, where five other men butchered the teen with knives and a machete.

The five men who pleaded guilty Wednesday will be sentenced to up to 15 years behind bars, officials said.

Santos is set to be sentenced on Jan. 10, 2023, with the other four defendants’ sentencing scheduled for later that month.

Gang leader Diego Suero, 33, and his second-in-command Frederick Then, 24, ordered the hit and were convicted of murder in July.

They each face 25 years to life in prison.

The five men who carried out their orders and brutally stabbed Junior were convicted of murder in Oct. 2019 and are serving up to life behind bars.
