Fayetteville resident charged with fatal hit-and-run on Skibo Road

A Fayetteville woman was arrested on Saturday following a fatal early-morning hit-and-run on Skibo Road, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

According to a press release, 39-year-old Amber Voight has been charged with criminal assault on 48-year-old Mark Switt. Voight’s 2003 Honda Civic allegedly hit Swett as he crossed the 1900 block of Skibo Road near Cliffdale Road around 5:20 a.m. and then fled the scene, the report said.

Sweett, who was from Virginia, died instantly, Sgt. Alpha Caldwell said on Saturday.

Officers found the Civic in a Walmart parking lot at 1550 Skibo Road, about a five-minute drive from the crash site, using the city’s cameras and license plate-reading technology, according to the report. According to Caldwell, Voight was arrested at 7:30 am.

Police said Voight was incarcerated in the Cumberland County Jail on a $60,000 bond. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Officer C. Biggerstaff at 910-751-1382 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-8477.
