Erika Christensen is returning to the series with a new role on ABC’s Will Trent.

HOLLYWOOD — In the new ABC series Will Trent, Ramon Rodriguez and Erica Christensen play characters who grew up in foster care but are now in law enforcement and trying to make a difference in society.

“And then their jobs intersect and they both made their way from abusive childhoods into law enforcement, which, you know, is an interesting path? It definitely means their hearts are in the right place,” Christensen said.

“They both had a really hard time, but it’s nice to see, you know, that they’re coping with adulthood. They have such a deep connection. since childhood, and they’re kind of closer than siblings because they grew up together, but they’re also lovers. Their adult friends and colleagues don’t know about it.”

When it comes to the on-screen chemistry between Christensen and Rodriguez, she’s glad it’s working.

“So we’re just like New York City buddies from 15-year-old actor friends, and it’s a completely optional element in playing characters that also go back a long way. But you can feel it. It’s really nice,” Christensen said.

Will Trent airs Tuesdays on ABC.
