Arlington, Texas – One Six Flags Over Texas employee was injured and four visitors were taken to a nearby hospital after an electrical breakdown caused smoke inside a ride building.
The electrical breakdown happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. within one of the park’s rollercoasters, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast, and was detected after smoke was seen coming from inside the building. The cause of the malfunction is unknown. The park safety team as well as the Arlington Fire Department were sent to the scene.
It was reported that the Six Flags Over Texas employee received treatment for minor injuries and the visitors were transported to the hospital “out of an abundance of caution” for smoke inhalation.
All remaining visitors and employees were able to safely leave the ride station.
An initial investigation showed the smoke was caused by an electrical fire because of a breakdown of one motor.
