Electric scooter operator dies after Brooklyn crash: NYPD

A 35-year-old driver struck and killed a man on an electric scooter during an early-morning crash in Brooklyn, police said Thursday.

Victim Hugo Franco-Comunidad, 23, was zipping east on 54th St. in Borough Park about 4:15 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a 2017 Honda Accord at Fort Hamilton Parkway, cops said.

Franco-Comunidad was thrown from the scooter and suffered a massive head injury. EMS rushed him to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died of his injuries the next day.

The Accord was heading north along Fort Hamilton Parkway when it struck Franco-Comunidad, cops said.

The victim lived in nearby Sunset Park about 15 blocks from where he was hit.

The driver of the Honda was not injured and remained at the scene, cops said.

No charges were immediately filed.
