Driver accused of hitting two children and four adults in Manhattan has posed as an innocent woman.

On Tuesday, police said a runaway driver who jumped off a Manhattan sidewalk and hit six pedestrians, including a couple of three-year-old girls, gave police officers a stolen ID and posed as an innocent woman.

Sharon Godwin, 32, was driving a stolen black Honda Accord when she pulled onto the sidewalk near the RG Ortiz Funeral Home at 190th Street and Broadway in Washington Heights around 6:10 p.m. March 15.

She crashed into pedestrians, all of whom received non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals.

Godwin of Peekskill initially fled the scene, but quickly turned around and returned to the crash site.

When the police took her into custody, she handed over a fake ID without a photo that she had stolen.

Police initially charged Godwin on behalf of an innocent woman with criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated driving without a license.

When the fingerprint analysis came in, police discovered that Godwin was posing as a 34-year-old woman, also from Peekskill.

At arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday, Godwin was charged under her real name and held on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bail, according to the documents.
