Derek Jeter’s lakefront castle in Upstate NY going to auction: Bids start at $6.5 million

Greenwood Lake, N.Y. — Derek Jeter’s castle on an Upstate New York lake could be yours — baseball diamond-shaped infinity pool and all — for as little as $6.5 million.

That’s the price bids for the palatial property will start at when the castle owned by the Yankees legend goes to auction in December.

Jeter, a Baseball Hall of Famer and former New York Yankees shortstop, first put his lakefront castle in the Hudson Valley on the market in 2018 for a whopping $14.75 million. After no buyers bit, the for sale sign on the 24-room Tiedemann Castle was removed in 2019.

The home remained off the market until 2021 when the price tag was cut by $2 million — bringing the asking price down to $12.75 million.

But after months on a hot market without a sale, Jeter’s Upstate retreat is now set to go to auction.

Paramount Realty USA will hold an auction for 14 Lake Shore Road on Dec. 15, according to the real estate agency’s website. Bids start at (relatively affordable) $6.5 million.

If the property sold for the starting bid, that would add up to a monthly payment of about $49,438, Zillow estimates.

Tiedemann Castle was built in 1915 and remodeled by Jeter. The gated property has 4 acres and about 700 feet of shoreline, according to Paramount’s listing.

The castle has an elevator, four indoor kitchens and four fireplaces, Zillow’s listing reports. If the main home isn’t big enough to host a prospective buyer’s guests, the guest home that comes with the property should suffice.

Along with the infinity pool along Greenwood Lake, the home has a waterfall that flows into a private lagoon. Tiedemann Castle also has a set of turret stairs that lead to a rooftop with prime views of the lake.

Tours aren’t open to the general public: Anyone interested in seeing the property before the auction must prove they have the funds to back up their interest, Paramount wrote in the listing.
