Delta plane fire | The video shows how the wing of the Delta plane caught fire

NEW YORK — The terrifying sight on a Delta Airlines flight to New York was caught on video.

A plane flying from Edinburgh to New York was forced to make an emergency landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport shortly after takeoff on Friday when flames were seen emanating from one of the wings, according to the Glasgow Times.

Passenger Corey McIntosh was on Delta Flight 209 when she filmed the moment flames began to emerge from the wing. A baby crying in the background can also be heard in the video.

“It was a very scary situation, especially with so many kids on board,” McIntosh told Storyful, adding that the crew was “great at trying to calm people down.”

“They were visibly shaken by the situation but remained professional and helped many passengers calm down. I can’t blame them,” she said.

In a statement released by the Glasgow Times, a Delta Air Lines spokesman said the flight was diverted due to “a mechanical problem with one of the aircraft’s two engines.”
