Deaf woman missing for two weeks found on NYC subway train

NEW YORK — A deaf woman was found on the subway who had been missing for more than two weeks.

Samantha Denise Primus was spotted on train number 1 on Saturday and taken to the hospital for an examination.

Primus usually lives with his mother and does not go anywhere without a family member. Primus, who is deaf, mute and has limited sign language ability, was visiting his sister and her family for several days when Primus left the house just before Christmas, according to family members. Her other sister, Ghyslaine, was part of the search party that found her.

Apparently, Primus had been riding trains for weeks. It took her a while to get to know her sister.

“I think I took off my hat and I think she saw my face. It was just happiness,” Ghyslaine said. “She was just happy, and I just put my arms around her and squeezed.”

The case raised concern because it appears Primus was taken to Queens General Hospital shortly after her disappearance, but was released hours later.
