Dallas late-night employees receive de-escalation training

A group of night business owners and employees will meet for specific training on dealing with violent crime and fighting in night establishments such as bars and nightclubs.

24HOURDALLAS is working with the City of Dallas to offer training as a proactive measure to find ways to defuse explosive situations and improve safety.

“Unfortunately, we are seeing an increase in gun violence across the country,” said 24HOURDALLAS spokesman Brian Toney.

The training is part of the Good Neighbor Initiative, which already includes active shooting training and inclusive education.

The de-escalation training will be conducted by a “violence management training” instructor from the Dallas Police Department, the Dallas Fire and Rescue Service, and the Texas Liquor Commission.

“We hear that most often something happens indoors and then spills out into the street,” Tony said. “Someone will go back to their car or find other people and look for those they had a run-in with inside the venue.”

The group expects 40 participants from 20 nightclubs.

“This training is critical for anyone working in the hospitality or service industry,” Dallas Police Department Assistant Chief Michael Igoe said in a press release. violence and keep ourselves, our patrons, and our communities safe.”

Training takes place at Sandaga 813 (813 Exposition Ave, Dallas) from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, February 28th. Visit 24HourDallas.org for more information.
