Cops arrest 18-year-old suspect in fatal Bronx stabbing, NYPD says

An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old man in a Bronx apartment building, police said Friday.

Detectives took Taliq Carter into custody Thursday after he showed up at Bronx police precinct, cops said.

Investigators had identified Carter as a suspect in the death of Rodney Truss, who was knifed in the hallway of his Westchester Ave. building early Wednesday and had visited his home a few hours earlier, police said.

After questioning cops charged Carter with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession. It’s his first arrest in New York City, police said.

His arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Friday.

Truss was hanging out with friends in his building when he was stabbed in the leg about 2:40 a.m. The deep cut severed and artery and Truss bled to death after running into a sixth-floor stairwell, police said.

A motive for the killing was not immediately disclosed.

Neighbors were shocked to hear of the violence in the building where security has recently been beefed up.

“It’s shocking. It’s quiet and no drama up and down here,” neighbor Joy Aijibola, 34, told the Daily News Wednesday. “This is the first time I heard something like this happening. It’s scary.”
