Child and woman rescued from flash flooding in Denton County

A woman and child were rescued Thursday afternoon from a flooded road near the Denton and Cook County border as a severe storm system hit North Texas.

The woman’s car stalled during flash flooding on Interstate 35 between Sanger and Valley View on Thursday afternoon.

A few minutes later, two trucks stopped to help. One of the drivers turned out to be a police officer on duty.

The rescue unfolded in front of an NBC 5 camera.

Drivers dragged themselves knee-deep in water to a stuck car and emerged with a car seat with a child. The car seat was placed in the back seat of the truck before the driver of the car got out.

“Fortunately, they were able to get that driver out,” NBC 5 reporter Wayne Carter told Live.

Passengers are led away from sin to wait until the water subsides. The police told us everything was fine.
