Brother of ‘mad scientist’ actress Julia Fox arrested on Upper East Side

Actress Julia Fox’s “mad scientist” brother has been arrested after a raid on his Upper East Side home found ghostly weapons and drug-making equipment, police sources said Thursday.

Police said members of the NYPD’s anti-ghost team executing a search warrant at an apartment on E. 84th Street near Second Avenue seized paraphernalia used to compress drug pills and ghost weapon parts.

During a search of the apartment, police also found pressure cookers and various chemicals that could be used both for explosives and for making illegal drugs, the police said.

Julia Fox attends the Jonathan Simkhai show during New York Fashion Week: 180 Maiden Street Show on February 10, 2023 in New York City.

“Upon finding these items, the Ghost Gun team immediately called in additional resources to assist in the investigation and recovery of the items,” an NYPD spokesman said. “The chemicals found were found to be non-hazardous.”

Fox’s father and brother were taken into custody, but only his brother, 30-year-old Christopher Fox, was charged.

Julia Fox told an interviewer in 2019 that she grew up in Upper Manhattan with Christoper, the older of her two brothers.

“One is about my age and the other is 15,” Fox told Highsnobiety. “The 15-year-old lives in Italy with my mom, and the older one grew up with me in New York. He still lives here, but he’s not really around.”

“He looks like a mad scientist recluse,” added the 33-year-old Uncut Gems star. “He builds 3D printers for fun.”

Detectives charged Christopher Fox with a variety of charges, police said, including possession of a weapon, possession of drugs, making an assault rifle, and manufacturing “rapid-fire weapons.” Fox’s indictment in Manhattan Criminal Court was expected Thursday morning.

Police do not believe the men were involved in terrorism and are still investigating.

An NYPD spokesman described the raid as part of a “specialized, long-term investigation into the ghost weapons and drugs case.”

“The NYPD will continue to relentlessly combat gun trafficking — both the steady proliferation of traditionally made firearms and the growing number of illegal, untraceable, but fully functioning weapons known as ghost weapons,” the spokesman said.

Fox, 33, was born in Milan, Italy and raised in both New York and Italy. She began her career as a model and fashion designer before moving on to acting, where she made her debut in Netflix’s Uncut Gems alongside Adam Sandler.

Her celebrity status rose last year when she briefly dated Kanye West before his bizarre social media tirade against Jews cost him millions in collaboration deals with Adidas and other clothing companies.

Fox dated West after his public split from Kim Kardashian. Their whirlwind romance, Fox said on Tik Tok, was supposed to “take him away from the Kim case.”

“In the month that we spent together, he was not on Twitter … he was not on any of the social networks,” she said. “The moment he started tweeting, I was gone. … I also realized pretty quickly that he would not accept my help.”

Last week, NYPD detectives arrested a Queens aircraft mechanic for amassing an arsenal of untraceable ghost weapon kits, including assault rifles, semi-automatic pistols and silencers.

Grzegorz Blachowicz, 36, was charged with 131 counts of possession of one fully assembled assault rifle and about 19 kits for assembling non-serial polymer-based firearms. He kept a cache in the backyard of his parents’ home in Glendale, police said.
