Brooklyn shooting wounds two, one critically; wild scene in Boerum Hill as fleeing BMW crashes into several cars

A gunman shot two men in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, said police — and witnesses described a chaotic scene in which a BMW driven by a wounded man sped from the scene before crashing.

The shooter opened fire at about 12:20 p.m. on the corner of Bond St. and Warren St. in Boerum Hill, striking a 26-year-old man in the face and torso, and a 23-year-old man in the torso, police said.

“I heard four loud bangs and then I heard a group of people scream and saw a white BMW drive by,” a witness told the Daily News.

A white BMW 435i sedan fled from the scene north on Bond Street where it collided with a silver Acura MDX driven by a man with his wife and two children on board at Dean Street.

James Rogers, 23, who was waiting tables outdoors at Rucola, an Italian restaurant three blocks from the shooting scene, said he saw a BMW run a red light at Dean St. and Bond St., sideswiping a parked car.

Rogers said the BMW then T-boned an Acura in the intersection, causing it spin out onto a sidewalk corner, nearly striking multiple pedestrians.

“There were three people over there. They were like five feet from getting smacked,” Rogers said. “It was pretty nerve wracking, actually.”

“At this point people were trying to get the license plate,” said the first witness, who did not give his name.

Police on the scene of the white BMW on Bond Street near Warren Street in Brooklyn on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

“A man walking his dog walked up to the window of the car and the driver said, ‘I’m shot, they shot me twice.’”

He said the man in the passenger seat of the BMW told the wounded driver he “had to keep driving.”

The wounded driver complied and sped off again before turning left on Atlantic Ave., the witness said.

After turning the corner, the car finally came to a stop at Hoyt St., and the wounded driver was taken away on a stretcher, said two witnesses who wished to remain anonymous.

“There were plumes of smoke coming out of the hood of the car,” a witness said.

Medics rushed two men hurt in the incident to New York Methodist Hospital. The 23-year-old victim was reported in critical condition, and the 26-year-old man was reported in stable condition.

A silver Acura MDX is pictured on the scene on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022.

It remained unclear whether the BMW witnesses saw was the same vehicle in which the shooter fled. Police had no information regarding the collision on Saturday evening.

There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
