Boyle Heights: Firearms victim transported to USC Medical Center; driver reports shooting

LAPD were investigating a report of a shooting in Boyle Heights early Friday morning after a victim with a firearm was rushed to the hospital.

Officers were called to USC Medical Center in Boyle Heights at 4:11 a.m. for a victim with a gunshot wound.

The adult male was taken to the hospital around 4 a.m., according to the LAPD.

The unidentified person who dropped off the victim told medical staff that the victim was shot outside a Starbucks coffee shop on Cornwall and Marengo streets. Officers found no evidence of gunfire at the location, police said.

The victim underwent surgery, his condition is unknown.

The incident was under investigation.
