A 13-year-old Long Island boy died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday night while saving his sister from the oncoming vehicle, officials and relatives said.

The child, Tyler Phillips, was pronounced dead Thursday morning after suffering critical injuries in the heroic act where pushed his sister out of the car’s path in Coram, his mother said, according to the Port Jefferson Patch.

Tyler and his sister Krystal Phillips were walking along a bike lane on Granny Road when an unknown vehicle struck them around 7:30 p.m., Suffolk police said.

The car sped off without stopping following the collision and no arrests were made by later Thursday, according to cops.

Tyler had just celebrated his birthday on Tuesday.

He and his sister are eighth graders at William Paca Middle School.

The school district announced Tyler’s death Thursday.

“While we are thankful that Krystal is expected to survive, we are heartbroken to learn of Tyler’s passing,” William Floyd School District officials said in a statement.

They added that grief and crisis counselors will be available for students at the middle school.
