Bonanno crime family traitor Gene Borrello sentenced to six months in prison

A Brooklyn federal judge sentenced Bonanno crime family renegade Gene Borrello to six months in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release Wednesday.

Prosecutors said Borrello, 38, violated the terms of his release when he participated in organized crime podcasts and was associated with other criminals.

After helping the feds jail more than a dozen members of his former crime family and serving five years, a judge sentenced him to probation and probation in 2019.

Instead of going straight ahead, prosecutors said, Borrello engaged in criminal behavior, including taking to YouTube to discuss his violent past for entertainment purposes.

“Glorifying the mafia is one thing. We watched The Godfather 1, 2, 3, maybe it’s 5,” Judge Frederick Block said at Wednesday’s sentencing hearing. “But there comes a time when we need to stop.”

Borrello also broke the rules of his release by contacting the perpetrators through his podcast.

He once hosted The Johnny and Gene Show podcast with another ex-mobster, Johnny Alite. Another Mafia deserter, John Rubeo, almost went back to jail after appearing on their show.

“You want to know [why] Did I go out there? Borrello has spoken about his antics on YouTube. “I will be honest with you. There are all the other cooperators, but I can’t. It’s Sammy Gravano talking about killing people.”

Borrello also visited Florida twice before asking Block if he could come a third time.

“I don’t like being made a fool of,” the judge said. – Of course, this worries you – this is the essence of trust.

Borrello’s lawyer, Nancy Ennis, demanded that her client be able to appear next week.

“Under the circumstances, I feel uncomfortable letting him go,” Block said.
