Carlos Lugo’s mother hoped her 14-year-old son would be found alive. Her worst fears came true when his body was found on a dead end street in north Houston.
HOUSTON. A mother seeks answers after her 14-year-old son was found shot to death in north Houston over the weekend.
Carlos Lugo was considered missing for about two weeks before his body was found.
His mother, Rosa Lugo, wants to know what happened to him.
Carlos’ body was found on Firnat Street near the Hardy Toll Road, about a mile from where he was last seen.
Lugo searched and hoped to find her son alive.
According to Lugo, he was last seen on January 21 and went missing on January 23.
On Saturday he was found dead. The autopsy report showed that he had been shot.
Balloons and candles were placed where his body was found, on a lawn near a dead end street.
Lugo said she had no idea who could harm her son. Because his killer could still be on the street, she didn’t want to be on camera for this KHOU 11 News report.
She said that she remembers her son as a happy, friendly and energetic child. On Monday, his friends gathered outside the school to pay tribute to him.
Lugo said she was grateful to Texas EquuSearch for being able to find her child’s body. She also expressed her gratitude for the support she received from the community. But, according to her, after the death of Carlos, there was a deep void.
In March, Carlos was supposed to turn 15 years old. Lugo said they had just started planning his birthday party.
Now they’re planning a funeral she says they can’t afford. They created this GoFundMe account to help with expenses.
Lugo said she wants justice for her son and hopes the police will find the person responsible for his death. Anyone with information about Carlos’ death is asked to contact HPD Homicide at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
This weekend there will be pickets near the place where his body was found.
