Boat chase leads to $30,000 in property theft

Officers set off in pursuit of the boat after the owner reported it missing. When a man boarded his boat in Maryland harbor and noticed things missing from his boat. Items are valued at around $30,000, including an anchor, bow thruster and underwater drone.

The man had previously seen a double sailboat leaving the pier, but only saw a pile of objects, including a cockpit table, from his own boat. The victim spotted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer on the dock before entering the office to file a report. While he was explaining to the officer what had happened, the same ship that had sailed past them left again.

By tracking the suspicious boat on a busy waterway, the officers were able to make contact, and once on board the vessel, the officers were able to return their property to the victim.
