Bills’ Von Miller had one question for Packers’ Aaron Rodgers in team’s 27-17 SNF win

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Von Miller was wondering what a lot of Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers fans were likely wondering throughout Sunday Night Football.

When are the Packers going to start throwing the ball?

In Sunday night’s primetime matchup, the Bills got out to a 24-7 lead at halftime. Down 17 points, Miller was expecting Green Bay to lean on their future Hall of Fame quarterback to get them back into the game. That did not happen consistently, however, with the Packers leaning on their ground game.

“Me personally, I was shocked that they ran the ball so much,” Miller told the media postgame. “They have Aaron Rodgers and with previous bouts, I was just expecting him to have a little bit more control. So, I was kind of anticipating him passing the ball a little bit more, and they just kept running and running and running. And I think, for me personally, it just caught me off guard. And I had like, some lanes open where they could run the ball and stuff because I was just playing the pass. I’m looking at the scoreboard and I’m seeing it went by 17 points, it’s two minutes left in third quarter and I’m thinking that they got to start passing the ball soon. But nope, they just kept running it and they ran the ball.”

There is no question that Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon ran the ball well on Sunday Night Football. The duo combined to rush for 197 yards on 30 carries in the loss, but those runs also took significant time off the clock.

Green Bay opened with five straight runs in the second half on their field goal drive. After Buffalo responded with a field goal drive of their own, the quarter was halfway over.

Once again Miller was expecting the pass, but Green Bay continued to attack Buffalo with their ground game. The Packers started their next drive with seven consecutive runs and ended that drive with two runs that resulted in a turnover on downs early in the fourth quarter.

Miller admitted he was taken aback by the Packers’ lack of urgency, and he may not have been the only one. Following the turnover on downs, Buffalo’s star pass rusher point blank asked Rodgers why he wasn’t dropping back and throwing the ball.

“I was taken aback a little bit because I’m like, ‘Hey, y’all got to pass the ball, don’t y’all?’ That’s just me,” Miller told the media. ‘Of course, I want to get sacks and I want to rush the passer, and I want to do all this stuff. So I was like, ‘Okay, they gotta start passing the ball. They gotta start passing the ball.’ But nope, they just kept on running. I even asked them, I even asked Aaron Rodgers. On that 4th and 1, I was like, ‘Hey, you’re not gonna drop back and pass the ball?’”

As for Rodgers’ response? Miller said he could keep that to himself because he didn’t want to drum up any problems for the quarterback.

“I’m not gonna tell you what he said because that’s my guy,” Miller added. “I don’t want to get anything started. I was just, it was a shocker for me personally.”
