Baby formula shortage continues to cause struggles for parents, North Texas woman decided to help parents countrywide with creating a group on Facebook

Texas – The baby formula shortage continues to cause of lot of problems for parents who are having hard times finding baby formula for their babies. The several-weeks-long problem is probably going to get solved soon, but until then, parents are literally left on their own finding the much-needed supplies.

The nationwide baby formula shortage should be relieved after the Biden administration confirmed that several military planes carrying baby formula arrived from Germany on Sunday, but it will take at least a few days more until the supplies are properly distributed.

Until then, parents are left on their own, often driving tens of miles per day just to find at least one baby formula can.

Heather Figueroa, a mother of a 6-month-old baby from North Texas, knows what it feels like to be left without baby formula as she had felt the problem on her own lately. That’s why she decided to create a FB group called “Formula Train” which is dedicated in helping parents who struggle to find formula for their babies.

As of now, her FB group has roughly 1,000 members and all of them can check the online group to see if the formula they need is in a different city.

In addition, Figueroa says that even though she is running low on formula for her own baby, she is committed to helping other parents. She confirmed that she had already sent baby formula to 25 different states, paying all the supplies out of her own pocket. She encourages other parents to do the same.

The baby formula shortage occurred due to the supply chain issues, but mostly because of the Abbott Nutrition large plant closure due to contamination recalls.

The first shipment arrived on Sunday, while another one is expected to arrive sometime this week, the Biden administration confirmed. According to the info they provided, both shipments equal 1.5 million eight-ounce bottles.

Abbott Nutrition meanwhile said they hope the plant can re-open within the next two weeks, but shipments out could take up to two months to arrive in stores.
