An ambulance closes at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown after a possible hazardous substance incident

The Baytown Fire Department said the emergency department at Garth Road and Baker was temporarily closed, but there was no danger to the public.

BAYTOWN, Texas. Firefighters and HAZMAT crews are at Baytown Methodist Hospital in Houston, where the emergency room is temporarily closed.

The Baytown Fire Department said they are working on the HAZMAT incident at the hospital on Garth Road and West Baker Road, but there is no threat to the public. The Atascochita Fire Department also sent brigades.

According to a spokesman for the Methodist hospital, they have heard reports of chemically exposed patients being admitted to the emergency room. Staff were unable to locate patients, but closed the emergency room “out of precaution.”

Baytown Fire said more information will be provided as it becomes available.
