An 80-year-old man was attacked with his hands tied while breaking into a home in Del Mar
An 80-year-old man was attacked and hand-tied during a home invasion in Del Mar early Friday, March 17, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Around 1:40 p.m., someone made an “incomplete call for help” to a house on Santa Fe Avenue north of 18th Street and a few blocks from the beach, Detective Jack Reid said in a press release.
Police officers arrived and found the victim had been assaulted and tied up in her home, Reid said. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Reed said surveillance video captured images of the two suspects at the scene, but he did not provide a description of the couple. No further information was forthcoming.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call the North Shore Sheriff’s Department at (760) 966-3500.
