Amazon cuts 9,000 more jobs months after laying off thousands

Amazon CEO Andy Jassi said on Monday that the company is cutting another 9,000 job openings just months after a layoff that affected 18,000 employees.

In a blog post, Amazon CEO Andy Jassi wrote that the 9,000 job openings are primarily related to Amazon Web Services, People Experiences and Technology, advertising, and Twitch, San Francisco’s interactive live streaming service.

Yassi attributed the layoffs to the uncertain economic situation, writing that the company had significantly increased its headcount in recent years.

“However, given the instability of the economy in which we live, and the uncertainty that exists in the near future, we have decided to be more rational in our expenses and headcount,” Yassi wrote.
