A young manatee named Casper is rescued from Blue Spring State Park.
Today, the Manatee Rescue Club, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation and other organizations rescued a juvenile manatee in Blue Spring State Park.
The research team has been watching Casper all winter, and they say he didn’t look like his “usual” self.
On Monday morning, Kasper was observed during a spring run, and photographs confirmed that he was exhibiting lethargic behavior.
Therefore, the research team decided to intervene and take him to SeaWorld Orlando for rehabilitation.
The cause of his condition is currently unknown.
The team believes he may have swallowed a foreign object or suffered from another gastrointestinal problem.
