A new video shows how a plane collided with an 18-wheeler during an emergency landing on a Harris County toll road.

The Spring Area Radio Monitoring Society filmed a video showing a plane making an emergency landing on Grand Parkway over the weekend. All survived.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas. A new video shows the moment a plane fell from the sky and crashed on a Harris County toll road over the weekend.

The Radio Monitoring Society of the Spring District filmed a video. It shows a Bonanza 35 making an emergency landing on the Grand Parkway near Cypress Rosehill Road around 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

The pilot reported a loss of power and informed radio control that he was going to attempt to land on the toll road.

“Now I am passing by the stadium “Tombol”. I will try to take him down the road and land with traffic jams,” the pilot said in a live recorded conversation with ATC.

When the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing, the plane crashed into the top of an 18-wheeled vehicle. He hit the top of a large drilling rig and fell onto the road. As soon as the plane landed, it caught fire and the video shows a large cloud of smoke.

“Not good. They are on a big fire. Big time. The emergency services are now as fast as they can be,” the controller can be heard speaking over the air traffic control link.

According to official figures, neither the driver of the large car nor the pilot of the aircraft were injured.

DPS public relations officer Richard Standifer said the pilot was on a research mission and was flying from West Houston Airport. The plane is registered in Michigan.

The pilots who filmed the video are actually flying different planes controlled by remotes.

SARKS President Jim Snead frequents the runway at Dyce Park, right next to where a single-engine plane crashed on 99. He said that because of the proximity to Hooks Airport, planes can often be seen flying.

“We get small planes coming in all the time,” he said. “People who train, train and all that. They fly over and around us all the time.”

The RC plane’s runway got a front row seat for a miraculous emergency landing.

“He wanted to put him in concrete there on 99th. And the time just ran out. There was an 18-wheeler – it was a big trailer. And that’s where he landed,” Snead said.

The remote control club’s camera filmed it all.

“I started reaching for the phone to dial 911 because I knew it wasn’t good,” said SARKS instructor Dustin Hiett. “Surreal – you don’t believe what you see.”

When the plane crashed, Hiett taught a group of young scouts how to fly the remote-controlled planes.

“Most of what I felt or thought at the time was – it couldn’t have been a worse time for something like this,” he said.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.

“I talked to the pilot and he said he was fine,” Hiett said. “Someone was looking after him.”

Hiett said the club is committed to educating new generations about flying and remote-controlled aircraft.

“That includes physics. This includes engineering. This includes hand-eye coordination – maybe not necessarily like a sport, if you like, like football or baseball, or soccer for kids, and that’s all good. these things. But it could be something where they can learn to build, learn to glue,” Hiett said.

Hiett said it was hard to watch everything unfold.

“It happened before our eyes, and we did our best to deal with it,” he said.
