A man was shot dead while walking in the Encanto area of ​​San Diego.

The man was shot dead on Tuesday evening in the Encanto area of ​​San Diego.

San Diego police officers arrived at 6200 Akins Street after receiving reports of gunshots being heard in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man with gunshot wounds to the chest. They performed artificial respiration until the ambulance arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the San Diego Police Homicide Unit arrived on the scene and are investigating the incident.

Police say the man was walking on the northern sidewalk when a car pulled up next to him and one of the passengers shot the victim before driving away, SDPD Lieutenant Steve Sheblosky said.

The man has been identified, but his name has not yet been released pending notification from the family. He is described as being 23 years old.
