A man has been arrested for blowing up PG&E transformers in South San Jose, according to police.

SJ man arrested after explosives found in house, police say

SAN JOSE, CA (KGO) — The San Jose Police Department is investigating after the arrest of a suspect in possession of explosives. He is now believed to be responsible for the explosion of two PGs.transformers &E.

The SJPD says the investigation began with two separate bombing incidents between December and January.

On January 5, officers approached Block 6000 on Snell Avenue with a report of transformer damage. PGAn &E employee said that the explosion happened around 2 am the night before.

The employee also said that a similar incident occurred on December 8, 2020 at the 5000 block of Thornwood Dr. when an explosion damaged a transformer.

The suspect turned out to be 35-year-old San Jose resident Petr Karasev. He is in custody for possession of explosives.

Police say there were so many explosives in his home that they had to enlist federal resources to help.

The police say that in addition to the explosives, they also believe they were drugs.
