11/3/23: A building fire damaged a motel on the corner of 11th Street and Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. The Santa Monica Fire Department extinguished a fire at a 1970s motel around 3:00 p.m. PT.
PIO SMFD, Patrick Nulty, said they started receiving several 911 calls about the fire at around 12:38 p.m. Saturday. “Police and fire department resources quickly responded and arrived to locate a well-developed fire that had consumed one unit of a one-story motel. The firemen began an aggressive attack on the flames, confining it to its source and preventing it from spreading to neighboring units. “
“One person who narrowly escaped the fire was found by police in an alleyway with moderate burns and smoke inhalation. Paramedics quickly provided assistance and took the victim to a local hospital.”
