GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas. A man who tried to flee after hitting and killing a prominent Galveston doctor last year has pleaded guilty.

Logan Llewellyn was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday, according to court documents.

What’s happened

Dr. Nancy Hughes was cycling on March 18 when she was hit in the Cherry Hill area of ​​the seawall. She and her bike were found near the intersection of Seawall Boulevard and East Beach Drive, not far from her practice.

Two men who had come out to watch the sunrise found Hughes and called for help, but it was too late.

Llewellyn was arrested at Seguin, near San Antonio, a few days later.

Another person was arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Hughes ran a family practice in Galveston. She came from a family of doctors, including her brother and father.

Who is Llewellyn?

Llewellyn, a resident of Konro, was 21 at the time of the incident. He was arrested by the Seguin Police Department and taken to the Guadalupe County Jail before being extradited to Galveston.
