7 RCM Headlines You Need to Know for January

From health care worker outsourcing to Confier CEO announcing his retirement at the end of this year, here are seven RCM headlines to know for January:

1. Maine-based Brewer, Northern Light Health and Owensboro (Ky.) Health outsource revenue cycle and other employees to Optum. Mike Valli, President of Optum’s Northeast Region, spoke with Becker about the pros and cons of these types of partnerships.

2. Adena Health System, based in Chillicothe, Ohio, announced that it will place 340 Finance Cycle employees on Ensemble Health Partners salaries as part of a plan to improve the financial stability of the system. Employees who transition will retain their current salary and seniority when the change goes into effect on March 5. Adena has been with Ensemble since 2018, and many of the transfer staff are working remotely.

3. Conifer Health Solutions President and CEO Roger Davis retires at the end of the first quarter of 2023. Tenet Healthcare is conducting a nationwide search for a successor to lead its revenue cycle management subsidiary. The company also promoted Brian Forry to chief financial officer and Deepali Narul to chief operating officer.

4. Advantum Health has launched a new RCM platform, ATOM, which uses machine learning and automation to reduce billing time and allows clinicians to focus on providing care.

5. Stephen Huddleston was named CEO of Ventra Health following the retirement of Mike O’Boyle. The company has also appointed Darshan Patel as President of the Department of Emergency and Hospital Medicine.

6. Wakefield & Associates rebranded as Wakefield with a new logo, updated website and corporate identity.

7. Jennifer Williams has been named Chief Financial Officer of R1 RCM and Kyle Hickok has been appointed Commercial Director of the company. They succeeded Rachel Wilson and Gary Long, respectively, who stepped down from their positions but remained with the company in advisory positions.
