A 53-year-old man was killed in a Staten Island shooting steps from a public housing complex on Monday, according to police.
The victim was standing across the street from the Stapleton Houses on Broad St. near Cedar St. in Stapleton Heights when two men walked up to him around 5:35 p.m., cops and sources said.
At least one of the men fired off two shots, hitting the victim in the chest, before they took off on foot, sources said.
Medics rushed the wounded man to Richmond University Medical Center, but he could not be saved.
Police were still working to track down the shooters Monday night.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
