214Selena Annual Event Returns to Honor Legacy of Fallen Tejano Star

The Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla-Perez, will be remembered and celebrated in Oak Cliff this weekend with a two-day event.

Launched nearly 10 years ago, the two-day 214Selena event will feature one art show on Top Ten Records from 1 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, March 25 artists. . Music, prizes, gifts, drinks and more will be provided at the free event.

Another art show at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center will take place on Saturday from 17:00 to 20:00. The art show will also showcase the work of various artists. The event is free and open to the public of all ages.

Down the street from the Cultural Center, the Texas Theater will show a screening of the 1997 film Selena at 8 p.m. Saturday. The biopic starred famous Latin actors, including Edward James Olmos and Jennifer Lopez, who played her starring role. The show will be followed by a DJ set. Tickets can be purchased here.

In addition, Four Corners Brewing Co. will host the 214Selena market from 13:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. The market will feature a lowrider show, music, a Selena look-alike contest, karaoke, a vendor market, and more. Music will be provided by DJ Alaska with a performance by Muriel aka The Oak Cliff Princess.

Texas native Selena Quintanilla-Perez was a pioneer in the male-dominated techno music genre. Since her tragic death in March 1995, Selena has continued to have a cultural impact on pop culture, music, and the Hispanic community.
