2023 NFL Draft: ESPN’s latest two-round layout has a dizzying selection for the Buffalo Bills

With the Reese’s Senior Bowl in the books, it’s time to get serious about the NFL Draft.

The Buffalo Bills currently have six picks in the 2023 NFL Draft (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th through Arizona, and 6th) and have many needs to address. The offensive line seems to be what Buffalo needs the most, and that’s the area ESPN’s Matt Miller turned to in the first round of his two-round tryout draft.

In the first round, Miller selected the Bills for North Dakota State IOL Cody Mooch. Here’s what an ESPN draft analyst had to say about the pick.

The Bills’ Super Bowl window is open, but how long will the team not be able to invest in a running game? There is no draft-worthy running back here, but there is a linesman who could improve his ground game. Mauch played a left tackle in the NDSU, but in the NFL he works from the inside. At 6-5 and 305 pounds, he plays hard and with power in the running game. Moh comes from a lower level of competition, but his strength and agility would immediately improve Buffalo’s offensive line and give the team momentum in passing and running games when the weather turns cold and that offense seems to be slowing down.

Mouch is one of the few names that should be on Buffalo’s offensive line. In addition to Mouch, Florida defenseman O’Cyrus Torrance, Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz and Tennessee tackle Darnell Wright should be on the Buffalo’s radar at the end of the first round. Any of the following players could improve on a line that has struggled to protect Josh Allen in a pass. defense and consistently open lanes for the back of the team in 2022.

However, in the second round, Miller made an interesting choice for the Buffaloes, picking Maryland defenseman Deonte Banks. While you’ll never have enough depth and full-back talent, Miller’s arguments for picking were something of a headache.

After turning to the inside line in the first round, the Bills could really need to be protected by a cornerback. Tre’Davius White is expected to do better next season as he recovers from his knee injury, but there is a hole across from him. Banks, a 6-2 cornerback, weighs about 210 pounds and only intercepted one ball in college, but he has the stature, stature and speed to turn into a starter.

Buffalo turned to White’s hole last year in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, drafting Florida guard Cayir Elam. The Bills may not have given Elam enough representation as a rookie, but he should play a bigger role in 2023. Banks, meanwhile, will have trouble seeing the field due to the Bills’ slow play at cornerback behind Elam and Dane Jackson.
