17-year-old hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after fight on the ocean

On Tuesday, police said a 17-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the 15-year-old’s car hit an older teen following an alcohol-fueled altercation.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday, the Oceanside Police Department responded to a fight near 1200 North Harbor Drive.

While officers were checking the area, an unconscious boy was found in the Pay Lot 10 parking lot at the corner of North Pacific Street and North Harbor Drive, according to the OPD.

According to preliminary data, a 17-year-old teenager was hit by a car.

The Oceanside Fire Department rushed to the scene and took life-saving action, and the boy was eventually taken to Scripps La Jolla with life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

The suspect, a 15-year-old boy who initially fled the scene, was located by police and detained nearby, according to the OPD.

According to witness statements and physical evidence, it was indicated that both parties were involved in an altercation that alerted the officers, according to the department.

According to police, alcohol was the cause of the collision.
