1 person killed, another critically after shooting near Brevard County Park.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another critically ill during a park party in unincorporated Melbourne Beach.

MPs responded to a call about a shooting in the Spessard Holland area around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

When the deputies arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the second victim was located elsewhere on the east side of the US-192 bridge. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is not currently releasing the names of the victims.

Ivey said the shooting was gang-related and investigators believe it was a targeted attack and no danger to the public.

During the press conference, Ivey also stated that a truck fled the scene, where the suspects jumped out of the truck and ran away from the deputies. Two occupiers were detained, they are being interrogated by deputies.
