$1 million lawsuit filed against DWA after girl attacked by an otter

Fort Worth, Texas – A family from Fort Worth is suing the Dallas World Aquarium for up to $1 million in medical expenses and damages in connection with an unfortunate event where their 2-year-old daughter was brutally attacked by a giant otter at the zoo, leaving her with permanent scarring.

The family took a trip to the Dallas World Aquarium and approached the Otter Exhibit. The father was carrying his daughter on his shoulders as the otter reached over the glass barrier and bit the kid’s hand.

The parents stated in the lawsuit that they were encouraged to approach the Otter Exhibit because there was no warning notice around the habitat.

The little girl was taken to the hospital right after the attack to make sure that her hand didn’t get infected because of the bite. According to medical experts, the attack is likely to have left her with permanent scarring.

According to the lawsuit, the zoo didn’t warn visitors not to get too close to the habitat, and the aquarium failed to notify the family that the animals could be dangerous.

This is the second lawsuit to be filed after the assault on an 18-month-old boy by a giant otter in May of last year.
